Default lcoalbloke.com Aussie affiliate program

Hi All
I have added localbloke.com to my affiliate program. I have 3 Australian sites and am about to try and start putting on sales staff to sell listings and advertising on the sites. You can join My affiliate program at Aniliety Group Affiliate Programs

I am having a go and I am building a suite of sites that will work to cross promote each other and yes try and make it in established markets that big players dominate.

I have just had localbloke.com an Australian business directory added to my suite and soon I will be adding a car sales website. Maybe I am stupid but all the big players have a suite of sites and crosspromote their sites. So i am attempting to follow their successful business models. Sadly I don't have their money but hey its worth a go.

I hope to create hundreds of commission sales jobs for people around Australia and pay them 50% of each sale. Don't know if it will work but if it does then looking like a dreamer now won't even come into my mind.:-) Each person will effectively have their own marketing business (maybe)
regards
Jakeyboy

The default settings are that every time a post is made in a thread you have contributed to, you will receive an emailed notification.

jakeyboy and ghafoor were probably in the same thread way back when. It is a coincidence that can be simply explained.

On the matter of the Ghafoor coincidence. well the timings I noted (as I imagine did Fox) looked to be that Ghafoor posted a whole new thread so nothing to do with Evan and then Evan came on after having not posted for a very long time, Evan then posted for a review, and I noted he then went to the old thread shared with Ghafoor and added new posts to it. So it didnt seem he was first sent an automated email but somehow was aware of Ghafoors post after being away for a very long time. In any case no matter. I really am just asking if Evan is ready for an affiliate program.

I think it is a bit early to be calling in the CIA but look, keep a close eye on those guys, they might steal all my posts.

You've done a good job on the re-skin. I own a niche directory too, funnily enough I too used phpmydirectory.

Only way I could get it to make money was to get it ranked number 1 in google for some key phrases.
Only way I could do that was back fill it with content.

So my suggestion is create a free "basic" listing that has company name, number and city only
Use the bulk upload and backfill the entire directory
Then make money from selling upgraded / advanced featured listings

I think then you have something far more tangible to sell people eg we are number 1 in google.com.au for Acting Schools Melbourne for $60 you can be featured on this page, that compares to $XXXXX you'd pay the Yellow Pages etc etc

Hello Crow
An affiliate program is just one of the avenues that I have open to me at the moment. Just as when any business starts out - they have no customers so they advertise - I have no customers and no money so affiliate marketing is an option that I paid for when I had money - I look at as advertising that pays as it goes. Probably a llittle old fashioned for this web stuff but it is what I have to work with so I am trying to work with it.

Thanks Fintan
I will look into doing just that - sounds like a good idea. I thought of it as a negative but your reasonings make sense. Any ideas on where I can get Australian businesses database for an affordable price. I do not wish to steal data.
Regards
Evan

No idea mate, I'm based in Ireland at the minute so my knowledge of Oz is pretty limited for now.

We have been involved in this market for over a year now, just a bit of advice, focus on niches e.g "Photography Business Listings" as competing with the likes of TrueLocal.com.au etc is near impossible without a developed marketing plan and venture capital. You mentioned car sales, maybe you could focus on High Performance Car Sales or Classic Cars etc. Look foward to the competition

Competing with the big dogs isn't my aim, I believe there is more than enough business to go around, as long as you provide *value then success will come. I've only just started a broadly based directory for my site and have been having some luck with direct email marketing...
