Default Please Review www.pixelarticle.com an Adsense intiative

Hi Everyone,

I would really appreciate all and any scrutiny/verbal bashing for my first adsense article directory http://www.pixelarticle.com After trying for 5 months to make money with adwords I have decided to try another route. Currently I have 14,000 articles/web pages all with adsense. The content has been pulled from multiple sources - I know the whole duplicate content thing but it seems to be a different scenario with every marketer.

Anyways any and all advice or tips would be welcome

Regards

Xaine

The thing about making money with these sites is more about getting traffic to your site than anything else.

I used to be on the adsense Bandwagon a few years ago, was getting 10k monthly adsense cheques, but then it just started falling apart, one thing after another just made the profitability lower and lower.

I think you can still make money, with it, but just not as much as you can make with other monetization methods. But the main thing is getting real visitors to your site.

14,000 articles is all well and good, (not good, not bad) but how many uniques are you getting to those pages?

I fine alot of the time, its much easier to make a few hundred dollars a month out of a 1 page site that ranks well, than it is to make a few dollars a month out of a 100 page site that tries to be too much.

Just my thoughts.

Well I have a few other sites within niche markets that are really only a one page thing. Still actually waiting for them to be indexed (do you suggest using software like SEO Elite or WebCEO to help with optimisation). I am simply testing the waters of what works and what doesn't, being relatively new but not completely dense, I am just branching out. But to be making 10K a month OMG that would be amazing I would even be satisfied with 2K.

I definetely know what you mean about traffic and admittedly it is one area I am flailing. Everyone has a different MO for SEO and where one person says duplicate content is fine another says it's a killer - it's like dieting everyone says a different thing so.. who is right?

I created a page awhile back when I was trying Clickbank products. http://www.xbox-360-repairs.com it was the only thing I opted to sell that was actually raking in any money so I tried to push it without paying adwords as for every $30.00 I made I was paying $20.00 to adwords so I decided on organic search results. I have been posting in forums, writing articles, sending press releases and still haven't found myself in the top 10 of Google search results. So this area is something I am still desperately trying to get a handle on.

Hamo, I presume you would be a busy person but I would definetely love to chat sometime and pick your brain. I work full time and want that to change so that I can spend an entire day if I choose just doing IM. So if you would at all be willing to chat sometime please feel free to email me and we can converse that way or alternatively over the phone I have VOIP so would be glad to even call you in your spare time.

Thanks very much for your advice, it's really appreciated

lol I am actually not very busy at all lately. Looking for something new to do atm.

So for now I am happy to help where i can.

I dont use much software, I have tried most of them in years past, and they really just compile info you can get anyway. I do use a keyword research tool, (one of the better more expensive ones) but it really just speeds up research more than anything.

If I was looking at this xbox repair market, it would start with keyword research. Find out what people are searching for.

A quick search tells me...

"xbox 360 problem" gets about 2100 with very little competition
"xbox 360 repair" ( or repairs) gets about 1800 with about 5 times more competition
"repair xbox 360" also has little competition.

You don't really know which way people type it in, unless you test it with some exact matching adword campaigns. (thats what you should do, but it's sometimes too much like hard work)

So first things first, I would put those terms I want to target in your title tags. Then just make sure they are on your page somewhere, but its not really that important.

Then write a few articles and submit them to the top 10 directories. But see if you can change them around a bit, slightly different titles, for each directory, and especially change the text around or rewrite each author box for each article in each directory. (I think its important anyway)

Actually I just looked up your backlinks, only 5 listed so far, and one from ezine articles, so you have the right idea, but you absolutely MUST HAVE, your desired keyphrases (from above) as the anchor text that links to your site. Its ok to put your http://wwwblahblab.com at the end, but always make sure you have a text link using the anchor text you want to rank for as well.

That is what 90% of ranking is all about, that anchor text.

change them up a bit, so use all the above phrases, and any others that come to mind. eg. think about what a searcher would type into a search engine, like...... ummmmmm... "how to repair my xbox 360" or " xbox 360 repair guide" or anything else you think people might type in, and then use that in some other links pointing back to your site.

Maybe only place 1 article a week or every few days, you want to make sure you dont get sandboxed, cause that can really suck. then you WILL start to see your site climb the rankings. Give it time, (a couple of weeks) and then post another article or get some blog links etc (all using your keyphrases in the anchor text) and you will see them move up a bit more.

Then just continue with it, until it gets to the top.

This method will work, it just takes time and effort and waiting. I dont know why people think there is any mystery to it, its Science, get more (better quality) incoming links for a particular phrase than the next guy and you will outrank them.

Like anything, persistence pays off. Just dont go posting 100 articles at once or you will be waiting 12 months for the site to show up. Slow and steady wins the rank.

I hope that helps. that will be a 4k coaching fee please. (kidding, but not really)

Hi Hamo,

Well thank you very much for giving me good straight answers to my questions... it is rare, what an untapped resource you are!

There is just so much information out there that is absolute crap, like so many ebooks, I bought a couple when I first started but quickly cottoned onto the fact it was just rehashed rubbish that could be easily found with a bit of searching. Now I prefer to learn from places like forums, there seems to be true value in it.

I like this method of having a go myself then getting other people's reviews and advice, the learning curve is so much easier when applying techniques and learning firsthand than reading. I am one that appreciates learning from my own mistakes, one of the best ways to learn but my gambles have to be with small portions of cash.

When you say redirects for my hoplinks are you meaning setting up squeeze or landing pages so that I can get that database built. Cloaking - is that this black hat SEO thing I have heard about, I have nothing against black hat, I mean we do this cos we want to make money..right!

When you say 4K coaching cost...seriously if you would be willing to offer some training and help I would be happy to reimburse you..in beer or alcoholic beverages if you like. I must sound desperate but I have had no one to talk to about this stuff for the last 6 months (since I started) and it would be great to throw out questions and have them answered correctly and with fundamentals attached.

The information you have given me already is very valuable...thankyou!

We're all experts at something I guess - If you ever have graphic design questions don't hesitate to ask..hehehe

Redirects, or cloaking...

Nothing blackhat about this, it just hides your clickbank ID, so you don't get ripped off or bypassed and miss your commission.

Cloaking usually involved finding a software program that will take your link, and turn it into a javascript code snipet, that you can paste into your site, so people still go to the same place when they click it, but they can't see, or remove your affiliate link, or replace it with their own.

I usually use redirects, for the above reason, plus having direct outbound links gives away your link power for no real reason, (you could also use a nofollow tag for this)
Anyway, to redirect, I just usually use the cpanel redirect options, to setup an imaginary file path, like.

www.exbox-360-repairs.com/xbox-repairs/
Then set that url to redirect to your affiliate link.

So people will never see your affiliate link, they will click on the above link and just be redirected to whereever you send them.

Its probably not that important, but I know a lot of people whinge about things like that, commission stealing etc. but personally I dont really worry about it. The way I think about it, is yeah I know I am losing some commissions, but there is no way to stop it, so as long as I can make money doing it anyway, then I am fine with that.

I hope that made sense, I have been up all night now so i am probably not making compete sense.

I am just bored today, and really just procrastinating as much as I can before actually doing any work. So I thought I would write out the previous post.

The 4k quip was really a personal joke with a mate of mine, we were just talking on IM about these idiots we know who are selling 4k internet marketing courses, and then calling us when they actually need to generate online leads for themselves. As they are clueless as to how to do it. They are really good at selling seminars and courses though. lol

Well I will take everything you have said on board and do some more research on these topics. You didn't have to offer me any advice, but you did, so thank you very much.
Being a moderator of this forum I would assume alot of people are reaching out and asking for your help.

Do you think it would be a plausible idea to maybe begin a group for Sunny Coasters to start getting together and discussing their ideas and Modus Operandi with one another. Whether it be a coffee night or cocktail night.

Happy - Yeah, they are an Australian company, they do bring out a lot of US "experts" for their seminars also.

xaine05 - Yeah I used to go to meetings like that, but honestly I see little value in them. they usually just end up with a bunch of people sitting around talking about how good they are, and how much they know, and the latest hot fad of a method or course or something. (and its usually the ones who talk the loudest are getting the least results) Which to me is just not worth the time.

I am happy to talk on here, or PMs or IM or whatever.
