Nothing wrong with that, it is the affiliate's job to optimise for their merchants as best they can.
Problem is, this affiliate does not PPC bid and does not want to share (space with PPC affiliates).
Nothing wrong with that, who wouldn't want the whole cake if you can get it.
Problem is, this affiliate is constantly agitating about this, to an extent that it must be bad for affiliate marketing in general.
Nothing wrong with agitating, the problem begins when it is agitation for agitation's sake and the stated claims are not supported by the facts.
From now on, every time I see a post that misrepresents the facts, I am going to contact one new affiliate and supply them with a list of Google searches and show them what to look for. I will explain the ramifications and explain to them how they work and why they work. One new affiliate competitor per erroneous post, I may have a lot of work ahead of me.
D'oh - of course this will cost us just as much but my wild guess is that it will not be necessary. (Just in case, feel free to pm me with your site details and resume - you will need a good site but no credit card will be necessary). | Ah, at last - the real whisper campaign is out in the open - and the whisperer is newbie.
It sounds rather too much like a threat as well. I should stop telling merchants about affiliate's dodgy tricks or you'll what? Organise an army of affiliate sites to compete with me in google for the keywords that you think I am targetting with seo? Is that what you are saying Jim?
The only affiliate sales from customers typing in the partial or full URLs of merchants are from the sem brandbidders, and the seo coupon/discount/voucher sites. Even if you did manage to get your little scheme off the ground, it would make no difference to me unless you use one of those two tactics - because it hurts the merchants and in some cases overwrites pre-existing cookies.
