Default Clix Galore affilate still breaching Timelifes T&C

After a week of raising this on the forum, i notice that the Clix Galore affiliate is still bidding on the TimeLife trademark which is against their terms and conditions.

And before you ask, did you report this to the network - no i have not - its not my job!

Policies and procedures exist for a reason. They are sound business practices. A public forum is not the proper way to deal with stuff like this.

If you had bothered to do the right thing and contact the network, you would have eventually been advised that your report was unfounded.

This is really simple basic stuff. If you think an affiliate is acting out of policy, you should report it to the network. If you are right, the affiliate will be permanently removed, immediately, I have seen it happen countless times. You should do it whenever you see anything wrong because it helps build a better industry.

In this case you may have waited a long time for your reply because you failed to check the facts before going off half-cocked.

This merchant DOES allow PPC Brandbidding (along with almost every other leading merchant on the planet).

Here are their terms and conditions:

"We work and allow specific Affiliates to perform our PPC marketing.

Unless you have explicit permission from us to perform PPC marketing, all other Affiliates are forbiddden from performing PPC marketing and from bidding on our trademark Time Life or on its variations. Restricted Keywords:timelife, time life, Time Life Australia, Time-life

We restrict Affiliates joining our program to those without graphic adult content on their sites.

Shipping of Time Life products is restricted to Australia only."

Not only are you wrong, but you have posted a working ADWORDS link on a public forum. This will cause Adwords charges to be levied against a legitimate and responsible affiliate.

This is not the first time you have done this. Please stop doing it.

Now the following is not a newsflash for most of the affiliates that will read this post but it is something that you should consider and perhaps reassess your position if you cannot dispute it.

The reason that TimeLife pays PPC affiliates to bid on their brandname is because it is a cost-effective way to protect their brand. Same for every other leading brand in the world.

Here is a list of TimeLife competitors currently PPC bidding on the TimeLife brand today, or at least they were when I checked a moment ago.

Everytime I have placed a link up, I have always inserted spaces into it.

As I have said, it isn’t my job to report this to ANY of the networks Newbie. Not Clix CM or DGM!

Given the T&C state "Restricted Keywords:timelife, time life, Time Life Australia, Time-life" can you please confirm that this affiliate has permission to bid on this brandname and that you have also confirmed this with Clix Galore.

There are two options open to you.

One is to post on this forum, good luck with that plan.

OR.

You could do what any responsible affiliate should do if they think there is a problem.

Send an email to the network detailing the facts.

Try it.

Answer my question instead of this smoke and mirrors - does this Clix Galore affiliate have permission to be bidding on this trademark TimeLife?

Newbie, you set yourself up as one of the leading experts in this industry. You are clearly not, but I know who is one of them.

Shawn Collins is the leading expert in affiliate marketing globally as many of us all know. For those that don’t know of him, he started the affiliate summit in the USA some years back. He has made millions from affiliate marketing and is highly regarded in our industry.

Here is an interesting post he wrote to affiliate managers warning them of ways affiliates cheat. http://blog.affiliatetip.com/archive...iliates-cheat/

Here Shawn writes "There is a post on affiliate blackhat PPC on the PPC Blog that any affiliate manager should read as a primer on cheating affiliates." he ends by saying "If you don’t already cover these issues in your affiliate agreement, be sure to revise it now."

Enjoy reading this all and please - form your own opinions here. Don’t listen to Newbie or myself - you all have minds. I am not trying to put words in your mouths or push you in one direction or another. I am not here to threaten, use smoke and mirrors nor use standover tactics like some.

Here is the leading expert in our industry's thoughts so....who am I to judge…..read what he has to say then I think you will realize why I have been harping this point over this last week.

Newbie - are you suggesting Shawn Collins has got this all wrong?

I have better things to do with my time.

You made a post and you were informed that you had made a fundamental mistake.

I cannot make you see reason although I took care to write a comprehensive reply that was couched in terms that implied respect when in fact there is none.

Everybody gets what an Adwords link is, please do not post any more, it is like stabbing your mates in the back.

If you want an answer to your question you should request it through the proper channels, just like everybody else, me included.

Did you really mean to say that Jim?

BTW, excellent links Shopping King. Many of the techniques were ones that we saw used by the affiliate in another thread - definitely these three tactics
1) Bidding At Certain Times (evenings and weekends only)
4) Advert Tricks (on the dealsdirect one)
5) Masking Affiliate Urls

There's one been masking the URL on gardenexpress.com.au for some time.

Enjoy yourselves Gals.

Everybody who matters knows exactly what is going on here.

Please do remember to check back after Christmas and compare notes on how your plan worked out.

Newbie, you know you are VERY mistaken and have been wrong on this forum for the last 2 weeks in relation to this subject of brandbidding, you also know Shawn Collins is RIGHT, you just do not like to be proven wrong do you.

If you think otherwise, please state it for the record.

do you know who the affiliate is?
maybe you should ask them???
or notify clix so they can find out...

it's no ones business besides the network, affiliate and merchant if they have permission to be bidding.

Posting this on a forum is useless. Nothing good was set to come from this thread.

I must agree here with Shopping King. To answer the question, No they should not have the right to brand bid, and 2. It should not be up to the merchant to continuously remind and police Affiliate programs of this, i mean at the end of the day that is what the Affiliate program is getting paid for, to run, coordinate and police the affiliates.
