Wow.

I was on a (game) show once and had to sign about 4 pages of such conditions and disclaimers.

Wny not contact David Dutton from channel 7 and whoever produces ACA etc. and formally request that you aren't used in future stories?

You may want to remove the Today Tonight and ACA logos from the homepage of your website though as it may give a conflicting message.

I never said I didn't want to be used in future stories, just not ones that appear to endorse someone who I wouldn't given the choice.

Actually I am scarred for life. I am like a savant (idiot savant some may say) for that format of word puzzles. Haven't watched the show since I went on.

That's the one where they answer questions on stage that were asked earlier (under a lie detector test) with all their family and friends right there.... for cold hard cash?

I saw it promoted but never watched it.

I'm sure I wouldn't pass the screen test - I'd be far too boring... now where did I put my Halo?

There's always a cringe-factor on those games when the person who is obviously smarter or better at the puzzles has some bad luck and a doofus wins. But I guess that's why it's a gameshow...

Late last year, my sister in law was accepted to go on Wipeout, which films in Argentina. But she had just fallen pregnant with her 2nd kid (which she wanted) so she had to turn it down! Unfortunately she couldn't transfer it to a family member....

It is yes. I was on during an odd period (Tony Barber and Tanya Zaetta were the hosts, Burgess had been axed and Xenedes was having personal difficulties). In an effort to make the show more exciting they made "Bankrupt" a complete bankrupt as opposed to bankrupt for that round. I won the first two rounds and went Bankrupt in the last.

They reverted to the old rules (where winning the round locked in that money) about a month after I was on. The injustice of it!

I did get a lawnmover, whippersnipper and chainsaw and a stack of linen, doonas, pillows and woollen underlays - pffff!

That's disappointing for your sister. Hopefully she will get another chance, though she would probably have to go through the screening or audition again.

Think about it this way Robyn, if you want to get back on TV, be in the limelight and all... I'll buy you a hockey mask and a shirt that says "Judicious Violence: Courtesy of Wheel of Fortune", and you can figure out what to do with your (not very) ill gotten game show gains.

[edit]Better yet, you're guaranteed to get onto soft news if we change the spelling to "Jewdicious", because then people will also consider you a racist, and hate crimes always makes the soft news.

*Nodding* I've been waiting for years for someone to come up with a good idea about how to get back on TV, use my chainsaw to make those b******s finally take notice at the same time.

Hockey Mask would be good. I have a T-shirt you can work with - my brother bought it for me for Christmas the same year it's like the WOF board with "G_ F_CK Y_ _ RSELF" Want to buy a vowel? underneath.

It is a personal favourite.

If only it was about the limelight. It is about the money and proving that stupid talents can pay off.

Luke, I've just seen 10 minutes of Wipeout Australia and understand now why pregnancy would be a big no no (I kinda guessed from the name but hadn't seen it).

Maybe she can apply for the Australian version... it's just there seems to be a personality pre-requisite from the little bit I saw. She can obviously have a laugh at herself?

I've only ever seen clips of YouTube from the Amercian show, but it was hilarious. And very physically demanding.

I'll tell her about the Australian version. Laugh at herself? Oh yeah. Infectious smile and a laugh that never stops. That's probably why she was picked the first time.
