i believe dgm is using the same platform as the UK one (or the earlier version)

but i havent seen them actively working until lately

how about communicating with CM and CG? how about CGs interface ? how about CMs datafeeds -most out of date although dgm has issues here as well regarding the ammount of datafeeds-?

and last but not least how many network employess are here on this forum ready to be asked and answer and/or inform?

btw and just for clarity... i am not payed or bribed by dgm i am expressing just my opinion

i still remember the days where CM was perfect -apart from datafeeds especially with the communication to its publishers- which now are gone...and CG for me is a network which has many merchants but luck of communication luck of good interface.

and i am not saying DGM AU is perfect

but how many of you have worked with UK nets?
within minutes you can apply to a campaign create links, create a content unit, create a site using the datafeeds from merchants get coupons and many more

Thank you for the clarification but it was not necessary. I am guessing it is an hour before midnight in the UK and you can still taste that curry.

Only on days where your number plate is an odd/even number!!

Hello!

Why thank you KGP! I can confirm there was no bribery involved - Jim, we might only have been around in Sydney since 2002, but we've got staff here who have been working in affiliates for 10 years!

We've got loads of new features coming out at the moment - some you can see, some you can't with loads more to come. We're trying to replicate the best of the UK networks and better in some cases and changes are afoot. We've got the merchants that do the big volume sales in Australia, and while there's a place in the market for all the merchants I don't see anyone challenge us in terms of overall sales and affiliate commissions for some time. We've got the back end level of staff expertise to get big blue chip companies on board (something smaller networks can't work with - it's like speaking a different language getting through to marketing people at some of the large companies) and keep them there for affiliates.

Cookieless tracking is ace - we've seen uplifts of about 5% in sales in most cases, more for some.

And as those of you who came to the BBQ might say - we're not a bad bunch of folk neither and are passionate about the affiliate industry in Australia (and APAC) and driving it forward. We love you all.

I've even got a photo of me getting licked by an affiliate to prove the lengths we'll go to. Thanks for capturing that moment on film, Kirsty!

Gav, I am a staunch supporter of DGM (search the archives of this forum) and always have been since the halcyon days of Jon-Paul Stift. DGM is Australia's foremost PPC house and has secured some of the best brands known to man. There are some really great DGM people that are an absolute pleasure to communicate with and some of the blokes are half-alright too.

However, affiliates are looking for basic features like the ability to automate deeplinks via accurate data feeds that are consistently collated and constantly updated. Forgive me if I am wrong but I think we are still unable to deeplink Dell with a trackable link.

The priority should be to get the basic plumbing functional before putting the fountain on top.

I'd disagree with that definition of basic features. Some affiliates might only be able to operate with automated datafeeds etc but many don't need them, and for some merchants they are not appropriate.

Basic features?
- reliable tracking
- reporting that allows you to know which link led to a sale
- reporting that tells you the gap between click and sale.

Ability to create deeplinks (which is quite distinct from datafeeds) is good but not essential. The reasons you can't do this with some merchants is more often the merchant's tracking than the networks.

I love the offers on CM but I hate the fact that I have to wait so long for a payment. Anyone know how much I need to be bringing in until they can pay me at least monthly?

I don't think it matters, CM pays 2 months out. As far as I know Clix are the only network that pay the following month, simply as they work on a "cash first" principle.

Very smart business model in my opinion (for Clix I mean)

Ok thanks for that. I don't understand why CM won't adopt that business model? Surely their losing potential publishers/affiliates through paying 2 months out.

I guess it's up to their terms at trade. For example, one of DGM's current campaigns (Dell) has been running since late Feb. I've been advised that they won't even be approving the leads until end of April, so you can bet that the payment won't be for some time after.

I've followed up with them ..... just the way they're conducting the campaign .....

Makes CM look a little faster don't you think?

Craig

Do merchants get a vote - I've been on a few....

Recently found one of them had been telling publishers they can't join their network as they didn't have any relevant merchants when in fact we invited them ourselves because they were a perfect fit. It makes me wonder how many other publishers have been knocked back that are a fit for our business... Were paying almost a grand for the experience... Not overly impressed... and a fairly casual "oops" type response when I called to let them know...

Gotta say so far- it's rare you speak with someone that has the merchants interest genuinely at heart and not just the commissions... Although there are players out there that are publishers and have been of great help...

DDave
