| | New to Affiliate Marketing Hi guys,
My wife and I are seriously looking into affiliate marketing but we're not sure which company/s we should trust, so we're hoping someone might be able to assist us.
To date, we've looked at Rich Jerk and a few others. However, we keep going back to the Rich Jerk; the only problem is, his free website does not support .com.au domain names. Which is a real shame because we have a spare website that is going to waste.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Steve |

Welcome to the forum. Please have a looks at this forum for networks in Australia http://www.affiliateforum.com.au/for...isplay.php?f=5
I would go anywhere near any site that makes outrageous promises to get rich quick. The only person to get rich quick is the site owners of such schemes.

| | Hi Tim,
Thanks for your quick respons. Because our website is based around grocery tips, we're looking for affiliate companies that sell food, medicines and pharmaceuticals.
But, I will definitely check out that link because we have no idea on how and where to start. |

I suggest you start with Woolworths via DGM and Appliances Online via ClixGalore.
Tim is right. Stay right away from MLM schemes no matter how substantial they appear to be.
Stick with the established networks like Clixgalore and DGM and you cannot go wrong providing you can attract readership. |

In regard to that supermarket and two others, when they saw our website: www.grocerybillbusters.com.au they all ran a mile !
Their argument was that if they endorsed our Grocery Budget to their customers, they (the supermarkets) would lose too much revenue as customers would be less likely to impulse buy, but more likely to price shop as opposed to shopping at a supermarket because they are loyal to that supermarket.
So, in turn, what we've tried to do is populate the website with advertising banners that are relevant and consistent with the Grocery Budget (which also encompasses pharmaceuticals, vitamins and cosmetics).
Any thoughts or suggestions on the website would be greatly appreciative, as I've become a victim of the global financial melt down. |

| | Sorry Newbie,
But further to your original post, in regard to readership, I don't know why, but Google Adwords is promoting our website in the USA even though we have only clicked on Australian readership. So, we will need to email Google to find out why. |

Via DGM, Woolworths offer a credit card they are calling Everyday Money. Your readers are natural customers of Woolworths. If they sign up from a click on your banner, you would receive a commission for each successful signup. |

| | Hi Newbie,
That's not a bad decision, I will check it out now. Incidentally, does Microsoft encourage affiliates?
The only reason I ask is because I've noticed that on average the New York office of Microsoft spends up to half an hour on my website every week and given that you have to have Microsoft Excel to operate the Grocery Budget, I thought there would be a lot of synergy there. |

Have you considered setting up your system on Google Docs? |

| | Hi Newbie,
I initially did look at Google Words and Google Spreadsheets, however, the purpose behind the Grocery Budget is to make it totally personalised so this way you only spend up to five minutes per week maintaining and updating it.
After watching the Grocery Budget segment on Channel Nine's ACA program, my local community college has asked me to train low income earners in how to create and maintain the Grocery Budget. So, I'm hoping this might also generate extra traffic into my website.
You idea on the Woolies credit card is absolutely brilliant! This reminds me, do you know if David Jones' has an affiliate program for their new credit card? |

Seeing as the people using your site are probably looking to save money because they are stretched financially, leads you send to CPA credit card programs may not convert very well.
Why not stick to the saving money theme - sign up for oo.com.au (clixgalore or commissionmonster) and/or dealsdirect (clixgalore)? Or save on cosmetics with Strawberrynet (commissionmonster?) Or see if there is someone offering leads for job applications etc.
Or go with adsense if you don't mind not being able to control the ads that appear on your site. |

| | Hi BCL,
Thanks for your response. I still agree with Newbie on the Woolies credit card because majority of my customers are shopping there, whether it be as their primary or secondary supermarket.
To date, I have registered with Clixgalore, Commissionmonster, DGM and Adsense. Given the ads that Adsense is populating on my site, dealsdirect may also be a good advertiser banner. The other one which I believe may also be hugely popular, but I can't find a match, is an on-line chemist that has a affiliated program. Do you know of one? |

Just because your people shop at woolies doesn't mean that they'll want to apply for a credit card (aren't they being told to restrict their use or chop them up) ... or that if they apply that they'll be accepted. |

With these Woolies and David Jones' credit cards, the people who least afford them, are in fact, the ones who are ordering them.
Incidentally, do you know how long Commissionmonster and DCM take to approve an application? I've been waiting for nearly 40hrs. |

Don't you think there is a conflict between the theme of your site and product (sympathising and helping people to get by) and encouraging them to apply for a credit card which they probably can't afford. That conflict could work against you if you try getting more publicity or work with various organisations giving courses in using your software. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
