Cool What do YOU buy online in Australia?

Hello people,

Related to the general *****ing that us Poms seem to do about people in Oz not buying online... where do you buy stuff online in Australia?

The only place that I've bought anything since I've been here is Amazon.com, eBay and an eBay type merchant. Although Dealsdirect, Dell and Apple would all get my business if I needed what they sold!

So, what sites do you personally use to buy online?

Gav

Yeah, pretty much as you suspect. DealsDirect have had a couple of orders out of me since I got here and Amazon has also had a couple! I've also put in an order with Figleaves.com for some jimmy jams as they only charge £4 for delivery all the way from the UK.

I must do some kind of online shopping exercise in the near future to see how Aussie e-commerce sites pan out for me. There are definately a few good ones out there I am sure, it's just a question of finding them!

I generally find that the shipping costs take the bargain out of any online bargain!

I use dell, readyflowers, ebay oz, amazon.com and some other software companies based in australia - I recently bought CS3 and save a fortune by buying it online - totally legit!

For gifts I have used redballoondays.

I will still use shops in the uk that have international shipping when required.

Some shops would ship for free worldwide, as long as you spend over a certain amount.

btw If you go to the forum on vogue.com.au there's a thread for people who bought fashion online, and describe their purchase.

Hi Gav I buy Online

Mainly online Advertising, webmaster tools, Anti Virus Software (Trend Micro Aust), business cards (Vist Print) using PayPal but I have never purchased products that you can buy at local shops. I like to barter and talk to sales people. Saved $600 last time I purchased 2 T.Vs. I did try ebay but got banned for no reason because. Somone was using my email address to send out spam.

The last thing I bought was flowers online to celebrate a new born. On a personal level I don't really buy to much online except the hard to find books and memorabilia. On a business level I do everything online, software, regos, web tools etc.

OK - as suspected, people don't seem to buy an awful lot online here (from this sample at least!).

I think we can assume (Rexie and Win Big) that you buy your online tools and online advertising online - that goes without saying!

Flowers seem to be a theme though...

People order lots of clothes online in Australia (male and female)

eg. take a look here: 603 pages on a forum of people posting what they bought online: http://origin.forums.vogue.com.au/sh...92994&page=603

and we notice it in our sales stats too.

Most people still like to go into a store and try things out... It's only people that have already done this that seem comfortable with purchasing major items online.

I'll purchase electronics & books online, but that's about it.

Everything else, I'm not going to buy sight unseen.

I buy everything I can online. I hate shops, sales people and shopping in general ... I cant wait til I can get my groceries online.

For the record - redballoondays is excellent for gifts - way better than flowers

dstore (make sure its.com.au) is a favourite and I shop for other odds an ends through emailcash shops
